The annual SMACNA College of Fellows Golf Outing is always one of the most popular events at the SMACNA Annual Convention. All proceeds from this event go directly to the SMACNA College of Fellows Scholarship Program. This year’s event will be held Sunday, October 27th on the Palm Course at the JW Marriott Desert Springs. You could win $25,000 on the grand prize hole, and if you miss the big prize, you can win a great gift on another of the many contest holes. True to Ted Robinson’s signature style, the Palm Course is complemented by sprawling water features and rolling greens. While challenging approaches can be found at every turn, perhaps the most picturesque holes round out the back nine. Find “Flamingo Corner” on the 16th tee box. Aptly named for the famous resident JW Pink Flamingos that nest nearby. Hole 17 offers a scenic, but difficult water hazard. Finish the round on the challenging water-lined 18th fairway.

Join your colleagues for a fun-filled pickleball round-robin tournament on the morning of Sunday, October 27. The JW Marriott Desert Springs Tennis Club will provide a 15-20 minute instructional clinic before the tournament begins where players will learn a simplified version of the rules of pickleball, as well as scoring. Players will play with and against different partners and opponents each round, making this a wonderful opportunity to mix and mingle with both old and new SMACNA friends. A light breakfast will be provided, as well as pickleball paddles and water. All skill levels are welcome to participate, and instructors will be on hand to provide instruction and assistance.
