Belonging and Excellence for All (BE4ALL)

Launched in December 2021, the BE4ALL initiative is a joint effort of SMACNA, SMART, and the International Training Institute (iTi). BE4ALL seeks to positively impact the industry’s work culture so that SMACNA contractors can attract and retain the best and most skilled workforce possible regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or nationality. BE4ALL will help SMACNA, and our members meet the real-world demand for the best, and most qualified workforce available for our industry, without quotas or other arbitrary demands on companies. 

SMOHIT Helpline

The SMOHIT Helpline is a unique and personalized mental health service for our members and their families, operated by Jeremy Holburn with assistance from a variety of mental health professionals. Although the Helpline is available 24/7, it is possible that when you call you may be prompted to leave a message, most likely due to our therapists helping other members.

An Association’s Books and Records

An introduction to the basics of bookkeeping, taught by an accounting professional, Dawn Minemier of The Bonadio Group, will cover how to prepare an association budget and track expenses against budget line items. Additional items to be covered are Form 990’s, understanding a financial statement and common financial mistakes of small associations.

SMACNA Testing & Research Institute

Created to educate and assure architects, engineers and building owners as well as the general public that all sheet metal products are manufactured and/or constructed to perform to credible industry standards, while also being dedicated to introducing and/or transferring new technology from the research phase to real world circumstances. The Institute applies new technologies to existing standards to promote a continuing commitment to quality construction.

Aaron Hilger, CEO

Aaron Hilger, SMACNA’s Chief Executive Officer, is a veteran association executive with two decades of experience as a coalition builder within the trades. As SMACNA’s CEO, Aaron is responsible for several aspects of the Association, including vision-casting, thought leadership, and advocacy. During Hilger’s term as CEO, SMACNA has embraced a member-centric approach focused on technological innovation, actively engaging in the regulatory and legislative process, and cultivating a strong partnership within the labor/management framework. In all of these capacities, Aaron remains committed to promoting the welfare of SMACNA members and the skilled trades as a whole.

Chapters

There are nearly 100 local SMACNA Chapters across the United States, Canada, Brazil, and Australia that represent signatory sheet metal and HVAC contractors. Membership in a local chapter automatically extends your membership to SMACNA.
